Have been going here since I was a kid, and the steaks are always generous in size and taste great. Very little seasoning, or marinade if at all. The meat speaks for itself here. Steak for two is huge, and the leftovers will taste great. The soup was disappointing, I hope they have changed, but they clearly used some canned soup, most likely campbells. I found over the years that better steak can be had in chains like Mortons, Shulas, etc. but for btown, this is still the place to go...its a beloved local spot.

Zagrebs is definitely the best steakhouse in Bloomington. The atmosphere is very different from other good steak restaurants in that it is extremely casual. The tables remind you of picnic tables, and the steaks are cooked in plain view of you. On a side note, the Indiana University Basketball and Football coaches take their teams and recruits to this restaurant which makes it very unique. If you want a good steak and you're in Bloomington, try Zagrebs.

Forgive me if the place has changed, this is from my experience years ago... We were lead to a small plastic table with red and white checkered pattern and handed little laminated index cards with choices of steaks to order. I got a filet mignon and it was delicious. But where are the salads, sides, beer and everything else that goes with eating out? I vaguely remember some IU sports memorabilia in the dark far away from our lonely isolated table in the middle of the restaurant. The location is kind of hidden away from other restaurants and shopping areas, maybe they are trying to keep it secret? Delicious steak, and nothing else.

During my college years at IU, I would go to Janko's Little Zagreb when my parents would visit. They would not go anywhere else to eat after the first visit to Jankos. My father who is a wine expert thought Jankos had one of the best wine lists with high end wines and very reasonable prices. My mom is a vegetarian and loved the eggplant dish. The waitress told us this was an original recipie from Yugoslavia. The meatball appitezers are very spicy but delicious. I asked where they got the meatball dish and was surprised to find out they are made fresh several times a week. My sister and I usually ordered a filet and lobster and split the order to have a bit of each dish. I hope they never change the IU sports pictures and the red checkered table cloth. It fun to dine in such a casual, lively atmosphere. I can't wait to dine at Zagreb's again when my sister begins IU.
